Hédard (Ed) Haché was born May 16, 1933 in Shippagan, New Brunswick. He grew up in that small community, raised by his grandfather and attending Catholic school – he even studied to be a priest at one point. But when he turned 18 he joined the RCAF, and he reported for training at St-Jean, Quebec. Ed went into administration, and he served as an orderly, moving from Quebec to Ontario and then to Halifax and Goose Bay. The Cold War was on during those years, and Ed was based in the radar bases along the Pine Tree Line, including CFB Senneterre. He did ship over to Paris for a 3-year period too, and he spent 6 years at CFB Trenton. Along the way he married Savoie, and the two of them raised a family. Ed retired in 1988 with the rank of Flight-Sergeant. He was interviewed by Scott Masters at his home in Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue, Quebec in July 2026.
